Freedom Formula #1
I might have said it before, but what’s the deal with the post-apocalyptic stuff lately? Are we really living in such dark times that the most original anyone can get when looking at the future is “ZOMG we’re all gonna totally die?”
Wildstorm is completely bankrupt, idea-wise, so it’s hard to blame them. But there were already DMZ, Elephantmen, and Fear Agent, among others. And now we have post-apocalyptic shenanigans in Wolverine, End-of-days-ness in The End League, and I seem to be getting a definite “End of the world as we know it” vibe from Ultimate Origins. Seriously. A guy could get depressed.
Oh, btw, was this book any good? No, not really. Gee, you think our main character is going to survive the first page of the second issue? It seems grim for him, unless by some miracle he’s got some sort of “chosen one” vibe going on. And gosh, I wonder if that tat is significant. Pretty lazy, by-the-numbers stuff. This is not to say I won’t read more, but I’m calling em like I see em tonight.
