Dark Avengers #4

DarkAvengers04pg11This was a pretty decent conclusion to a pretty decent story, completely and totally wrecked by one staggeringly stupid page.

What’s wrong with this picture?

One million years BC = T. Rexes and cavemen.  I’ll give Bendis a pass on the cavemen.  This gentleman apparently shocks and dismays the establishment by claiming that humans migrated to England 700,000 years ago rather than 500,000 years ago.  So what’s 3000 centuries between friends?  Sure, cavemen.  Yeah.

Then there’s the T. Rex.  If you ask Wikipedia (or the closest six year old boy) about the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event, you’ll find that the dinosaurs died out 65.5 million years ago.  I’m giving free passes for 3000 centuries, it’s true.  But the T. Rex thing is 645,000 centuries off.  That’s outside the margin of error.  Sorry.  Unless Bendis and Deodato got their information from this place (feel free to search on the page for the word “dinosaur” to get to the relevant passage), this is a BASIC HISTORY FAIL.

I found my information on free websites in about 10 minutes.  Are the creators really so busy that they couldn’t have checked how plausible this page was before putting it in the script?

That aside, we get more of a glimpse of Osbourne’s character, more interest in exactly what Sentry is capable of, something approaching humor from Doom, and a staring-at-a-girl’s-ass joke, which I suppose is de rigeur.
